The CV (curriculum vitae) is what the British call it. The name is from the old Latin language. The resume is what the Americans call it. A resume or CV is a summary of your educational qualifications and work experience. In the workshop, we will be going through the following: 1) Understanding the CV or resume. What makes a good CV and what to avoid when writing one. 2) Understanding the Covering letter. What makes a good Covering letter. And why you need one. 3) The format for a CV and a Covering letter. With examples. 4) Dos and Don'ts for a CV, type of paper, type of Font, Headings. 5) Vocabulary for effective CVs and Covering letters--focusing on active verbs. 6) Differences between American and British CVs and Covering letters. 7) Emails and the Internet for CVs and Covering letters, formating and attachments. 8) Essential tips for creating an effective CV and Covering letter. 9) Samples and a basic CV template 10) CV and Covering letter multiple choice test; Active verb test; Past simple and present perfect test. All participants will be provided with an 8 page summary of the workshop to take home with them.
