The sea snake collected from Songkhla fishery port, Songkhla Province from April, 1998 to February, 1999 were referred to five species, namely Lapemis curtus, Aipysurus eydouxi, Hydrophis ornatus, H. cyanocinctus and H. klossii. The L. curtus was the most abundant specimens (97.9%).
They were divided into 32.9% of female and 67.1% of male. The sex of L. curtus cannot determined by morphological characters, such as neck girth (6.48ฑ0.11 cm. in female and 6.36ฑ0.09 cm. in male), body girth (8.98ฑ0.19 cm. in female and 9.10ฑ0.13 cm. in male), tail girth (5.72ฑ0.11 cm. in female and 5.68ฑ0.09 cm. in male), head length (3.42ฑ0.06 cm. in female and 3.24ฑ0.04 cm. in male), tail length (8.34ฑ0.13 cm. in female and 8.79ฑ0.11 cm. in male), and total length (79.77ฑ1.83 cm. in
female and 82.12ฑ0.94 cm. in male). Random dissection of female specimens showed that most females had contained 3-4 embryos in development.
