The aim of The Study of Problem of Readmitted Psychiatric Patients in Songkhla Psycho-Neurology Hospital is to study the causes that bring psychiatric patients readmitted in Songkhla Psycho-Neurology Hospital. In order to plan for advising patients and their relatives before discharge. Including collected the data for planning health service to psychiatric patient and relatives by spread out knowledge and home visit after discharge. The study is 142 patients during March-October 1988 that are 28% of all readmitted patients which readmitted during 5 years back ward. The research instrument is questionnaire which conduct by researcher. And questionnaire were already tested varidity and the results are concludsion as following :
1. Most patients are from Songkhla, age between 25-34 years, Thai national, religion-Budhism, single, educational level is M.6, occupations are employee. Parents responsibility for treatments.
Most of them did not clarify their salary and think that they have enough money for living. Family's status are children. They have over 4 siblings and most are middle child, single family, most of them had ever admitted second time, duration 1-2 years stayed at home and the relatives took them to
hospital.
2. Illness and treatment is found that most of them has been patients in the duration 1-3 years. The cause of readmitted are :
- neglect to take medicine and unconsistency taking medicine. The cause of negligence because misunderstood that they are success to curation and boring to take medicine.
- loss of treasure and their honour.
- drink alcohol when their friends persuaded and unhappy.
- sometime quarrel with somebody in family because different reason and was boring to working.
- self care after last discharge from hospital is having medicine from Songkhla Neuro-Psychological Hospital only. And treat by traditional doctor. Using medicine service via post found-ings that most patients didn't use this services because coming to the hospital is more convenient
and some of them didn't know that there are post service, somebody cannot read and write.
3. Knowledge and believe of Psychoses : the patients though that it cause from being unhappy, curable.
4. The behave of patients during stay at home found that they have normal life; wake up,
house work, having food and drug. Most of them spend leisure by sleeping. Normally the advice from the hospital when the patients stay at home are about drug, follow up and spend they life with other person.
5. The relationship with their family, friend and community are found that their family have taken the patients outside their house. And person who the patient listen to are parents. There are a
few neighbours who have an aversion for them. Neighbourhood behave good to the patients. Some
have been outside with neighbour. Their friends never persuade them to drink and have drug.
6. The relative between readmitted patients and other variable. There is statistically signifi-
cant with a relative between readmitted patients and the patients from upper southern of Thailand, period of age, religion, having drug when stay at home, period of being patients. The cause of never use post service from the hospital in 0.01, 0.02, 0.01, 0.04, 0.05 and 0.02 respectively.
7. The relative between variable have found that there is statistically significant relative between
- religion and the duration when patients stay at home at 0.01
- age and the period of being psychiatric patients at 0.002
- native and patient's eating behavior at 0.001
- education and patient's behavior when stay at home at 0.004
- occupation and ability to work when stay at home at 0.01
- readmitted patients and having medicine at 0.04
- readmitted patients and the cause that never using medicine by post service at 0.002
- readmitted patients and duration of being psychosis at 0.005
And others variables found that there is not statistically significant at 0.05
