The coastline changed from Lam Pho, Pattani to Pak Nam Tak Bai, Narathiwat during 10 years. It was applied technique of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS). The main of data which composed of digital Landsat-5 TM imagery (1988 and 1997-1998) and topographic maps at scale 1 : 50,000 of 1987. It provided image processing via image color composite, exponential stretching, unsupervised and supervised classifications, low pass filtering, and raster to vector data. Then images were transformed from raster data to vector data and registrated them to calculate changing area.
The techniques of map to image and image to image revealed that total changing area 7.89 km2 (eroded area 2.87 km2 and deposited area 5.02 km2) and 4.64 km2 (eroded area 1.82 km2 and deposited area 2.82 km2) respectively.
