For wastewater treatment operation, it is necessary to routinely monitor the efficiency of waste-water treatment. Prince of Songkla University (PSU) has 2 wastewater treatment plants; one plant receiving hospital wastewater and the other receiving wastewater from residential area. Both of wastewater treatment plants are aerated lagoon following with maturation ponds. Based on the data of wastewater treatment from August 1998 to March 2000, it could be concluded that the average treatment efficiency of wastewater treatment plant receiving hospital wastewater are 80% and 46% in terms of BOD5 and SS removals ,respectively. While the wastewater treatment plant receiving residential wastewater has average treatment efficiency values of 49% for BOD5 removal and 15% for SS removal. The treated wastewater was met the Domestic Effluent Standard issued by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.
