The economic loss due to traffic accident is a great cost to the nation. In 1998, the number of fatalities from road crashes in Thailand was 12,234, the number of accidents 73,725 and the number of injuries 52,538.
Road safety audit is a proactive strategy, which deals with accident prevention. The practice has been used in foreign countries particularly in the UK and Australia since 1990.
