Financial ratio analysis of natural rubber industry in 5 Southern Border Provinces

The analysis of financial ratio is an assessment of business operation based on financial data which include profit and loss statement and balance sheet. The financial ratio analysis explained
the performance of the companies about : (1) activity, (2) liquidity, (3) financial leverage and
(4) profitability.
The objectives of financial analysis of natural rubber industry operating in five southern border provinces entail (1) to gain knowledge on company policy and management operation and its impact on financial ratio analysis and (2) to investigate thoroughly company policy on management operation with respect to financial ratio comparative analysis in the past three years of 1994-1996. Data were collected from the population of registered rubber companies which had submitted reports to the Provincial Commerce Office in one of the five southern border provinces. The sample population of companies was stratified by province and a proportionate sample from each stratum was drawn resulting in a stratified proportionate sample of n=84 per year as : Narathiwat 3, Yala 16, Pattani 1, Songkhla 62 and Satun 2 financial statements.
The primary research finding is that within this industry, activity and liquidity remained high
but financial leverage and profitability were low. The finding was consistent over the three-year period.
