The objective of the quasi-experimental research was to study the effect of planning instruction pain coping during labor in primigravidas. The 80 subjects of this study were primigravidas who followed up at antenatal care unit and delivered at labor room unit in Hat Yai Hospital. The subjects
were selected by purposive sampling and divided into two groups, 40 experimental and 40 control groups. The experimental group received health education by teaching demonstrating and teaching from the booklets 4 sections each section take time around 30-45 minutes. The contents were the delivery, exercise during pregnancy, breathing exercise, abdominal touching, pain controlling during labor and delivery and visited the labor room. The control group received routine care. This research applied analysed by using SPSS program for percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test.
The result of this study showed that there were statistically significant differences in pain
coping behavior mean score during the active phase in labor between the experimental group and control group. (P<0.05) and there were statistically significant differences in pain threshold mean
score during the active phase in labor between the experimental group and control group (P<0.05).
