This paper describes a study of the performance of public transport system in Hat Yai which is a major city in southern Thailand. Public transport is a sustainable transport. Efficient public transport can help solve many problems, such as, traffic congestion, accident and environment. The public transport system in Hat Yai consists of fixed route and non-fixed route services. Fixed Route services comprise five routes, three routes in cateory I (154 song-thaews), one route in category IV (48 song-thaews) and one fixed routed tuk tuk service (2,300 tuk tuks). For non-fixed route services, there are approximately 2,300 tuk tuks and 5,000 service motorcycles. The purpose of this study is to seek ways to improve the public transport system to be more efficient. Passenger satisfaction is an impor-tant index in the study. Moreover, operator's performance is included as a part of the study.
