The objectives of the studies, Baccalaureate and Graduate Degrees in Tourism and Hospitality Studies in Thailand : The comparative studies between 1996 and 1999, was to see the progress of the development of hospitality and tourism programs in response to the changing environment of tourism industry in the past 3 years. The finding indicated that during these three years there were a lot of quantity improvement in terms of institutions, number of staff, number of in-put/out-put of students
as well as research projects. But the very important issues that related directly to the quality of the graduates, problems and constraints running the hospitality/tourism programs, still existed. To support the targets of the national plan to produce the graduates in sufficient number to meet market demand and of international quality standard to cater to the opening of free trade in service, as well as to sup-port the employment of more Thais in the tourism industry, three recommendations were proposed to solve the immediate problems. These are : the need for curriculum development, setting up a joint-program for staff development, and the need for an association/meeting for coordination and develop-ment of the program.
