This paper presents case histories related to various aspects of environmental impacts of mining activities in Thailand. The first case history concerns surface and groundwater pollution by a mine waste dump in Nakhon Si Thammarat province. The second case history deals with river water pollu-tion by mine waste dumps in the Pattani river basin. The third case history relates to air pollution
from the burning of lignite in the power station of Mac Moh mine. The fourth case history deals with land subsidence and salt water intrusion due to intensive withdrawal of groundwater in Bangkok. A
case study on radon in groundwater associated with uraniferous granite is also reported.
