This narrative analysis report is based on a small-scale qualitative research in which thirty-two informants from eleven branches of employment participated; banking, import-export, insurance, retail, hotel, health care, engineering, communication, industry, education and computer. An in-depth one-to-one interview was conducted with each informant. All the interviews conducted in Thai and were audio-taped. The tape records were then transcribed verbatim followed by a narrative analysis of the Thai transcription.
It was revealed that among several qualifications preferred by employers only a few met the employers' moderate satisfaction, while the rest needed to be encouraged. It is suggested that the restÐsuch as determination and lifeÐlong learningÐneed to be emphasized to the students before they enter the employment. It was also recommended that educational institutes cooperate more with the employment sectors, especially in the current period of economic down turn.
